Agricultural Department

Agricultural Department

The Agricultural Department is responsible for reviewing agricultural and wildlife applications submitted each year while also monitoring properties previously granted agricultural or wildlife for continued compliance.  New applications typically initiate an office review of the property record, followed by an inspection of the property(ies), and then a final determination on the application.  Properties approved for agricultural/wildlife in prior year are periodically reviewed by viewing aerial photos and/or on-site inspections to ensure continued agricultural use.

Rollback determinations are also conducted through this department.  If a property that is currently receiving an agricultural valuation is determined to have undergone a change in use, a rollback is issued on the property to recover the difference between the taxes paid on the agricultural valuation and the taxes that would have been paid based on the market valuation.

Each year, the Agricultural Department collects information on income and expenses from agricultural operation throughout the county to calculate the productivity values for each classification of agricultural land.

Correspondence from the district regarding agriculture/wildlife applications occurs in two formats.

  • Request for additional information or documentation, or
  • Notification of Denial of agricultural valuation by certified mail.

We do not send notification when qualified.  You may check the status of your property through the property search feature, under the land drop down, qualified agriculture value will have a value listed in Prod. Value.
