CANVASS OF GENERAL ELECTION
ELECTION RESULTS
WHY IS THERE AN ELECTION? Senate Bill 2 (88th Leg., 2nd C.S.) made several changes to the Tax Code regarding the composition of Appraisal Districts. In counties with a population of 75,000 or more, the appraisal district will be governed by a board of nine directors. The board is composed of both appointed and elected directors. Five directors are appointed by the taxing units participating in the district, and three directors are elected by majority vote. The county assessor-collector serves as an ex officio director.
The Texas Secretary of State issued an Election Advisory about the elected directors on December 14, 2023. The link is provided here: https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/laws/advisory2023-24.shtml
